Can you keep a secret?....

It's beginning to look like Christmas with announcements of "Early Black Friday" sales starting to appear in mailboxes and Santas arriving at local malls this weekend. So the question on people's minds is who will get Miranda's name in the Secret Santa exchange this year?

I got a call from our lovely mod, grdnofevrythng, asking if I would organize our Second Annual Secret Santa exchange for the dvlwears_prada community this year. Of course I said yes, since who can resist a request by our mod?

Last year's Secret Santa Exchange produced a terrific batch of fic, songmixes, graphics and vids. Can we do it again?

And even though it's called the fic exchange, it's not limited to fic because we know there are many talented people in the community with gifts other than writing.

**How it works

Step 1. Respond to this post with your wishlist form between November 8th - November 15th at 11pm EST. Any type of created gift is acceptable to ask for: fanfic, banners, icons, wallpapers, videos, music mixes, etc. Commenting with a wishlist automatically means that you will have to be a Secret Santa for someone else.

Step 2. During the week of November 16th - November 22nd you will be contacted and given the name of another member who also posted their wishlist. NOTE: Please do not reveal yourself to your Secret Santa recipient. This will only ruin the surprise.

Step 3. Kick your creative booty into gear, and get cracking on making a "present" for your Secret Santa. Should you have any questions for your Secret Santa, please email me, and I will post the question for you. Satisfying the entire wishlist is not necessary. Any contribution will be appreciated by your Secret Santa.

Step 4. The big reveal. Gifts are to be posted between December 24th and January 5th.

Step 5. If you are unable to complete your gift, please contact me. I will arrange a back-up gifter to complete your gift.

Step 6. After January 5th, I will do a gift round up, and ensure that those who have not received their gifts are granted a back-up Santa, and in turn receive gifts.

Are the comments screened?

Should they be screened? Should wishlists not be viewable until after the Exchange is complete?

grdnofevrthng had mentioned something about screening comments, but I saw the wishlists were visible from last year.

Also, I may have missed something, since Semagic was giving me problems so I had to hand code the post.

I just changed it from "journal default" to "disabled", but will change it to screened if I should.

I don't know if they should be, but the few secret santa exchanges I've done on LJ all had the wishlist comments screened, so I thought I'd ask. If they're not, I'll send you an email.

What I Want: I'd like a Andrea/Miranda fanfic.
It's a few years after the film. Andy and Miranda are together. Emily and Andy are best friends so maybe weave a little bit of Emily/Serena into it.
I'd like the twins in it, they'd obvs be older, and there'd be a family dinner with them all, including Patricia, on Christmas Eve.
Maybe one of the twins has a girlfriend there?
Then the next morning see's them all sitting around the Christmas Tree in front of the crackling fire as they open there presents.
I'd like there to be some really nice mushy, romantic scenes between our favourite couple, Mirandy. A few smut scenes would go great too.
Maybe Andy's a romantic and she fills the bathroom with candles and draws Miranda a bath and gives her another present. Something nice like that.
I'd like it to be long-ish. A few chapters long would be great. And offcourse, add your own idea's! =)

What I Can Do: I'll only do a fanfic. I'd prefer the pairing to be Andrea/Miranda but if the need arises I will do Andrea/Emily. =)

Last year I screened the comments.

I've never seen seen sign-up posts for a fic exchange screened in the several dozen fic-exchanges I've followed or participated in; half the fun of an exchange is seeing what other people request. The person assigned the request is always secret, but the actual request is not.

What I want: Fanfic feeds the fandom soul!

I'm not a big fan of massive AU's, I prefer plots that are written within the movie's timeframe, or only slightly deviate from it (i.e. that old Andy never leaves in Paris chestnut). I'm amenable to secondary pairings (whoever/whoever - go crazy!) as long as Miranda and Andy are the main show. Obviously different prompts create different kinds of fics, but I generally dislike big dramarama, I want to read stories that flow from the characters interacting organically. Smut is not necessary, but always welcomed with open arms :)

Some possible prompts:

1. Drunk Miranda. I have seen a few fics where Andy has been a bit worse for wear, but what would be a believable context for Miranda to drink too much? Would it be hilarious or terrifying (or both)?

2. I always love fics that tackle Andy navigating the intersection between Miranda the fashion icon and Miranda the person

3. 'I get a little bit vicious, thats why you love me/ Because you can't resist it, you'd do anything for me' (Song: Take it Like a Man - Dragonette)

4. Crossover: DWP/30 Rock. Jack/Liz and Miranda/Andy are forced to interact at a, 'fancy people gala'

"What did Miranda and Jack even do when they dated? Discuss who had sold their soul to the devil for the better price?"

What I can do: What do you prefer creating?

Fic is my forte. I'm happy to write in any style/genre/AU, but I rarely write more than a one shot. I could also do crossover fics, as long as I had time to watch the none DWP half of the equation :)

Music Mixes are also totally possible.

What I absolutely won't do: I'll write any character, no problem, but I don't think I could write a couple other than Miranda/Andy. I have never written PWP, but I am happy to give it a go. Long, epic fics are totally beyond me.

Thanks for your comment. You actually gave the reason that I thought the comments shouldn't be screened, (that it's more fun that way) and I'm working on unscreening them, but need to find out (have emailed the people who've already signed up) who doesn't want their wish lists to be public. (Primarily I think it's to protect their email address.)

I love AU where either Miranda or Andy are supernatural beings, but it’s not a must. If I get that I’m not picky about who of the two is the mythic creature, or they both could be. Otherwise a good chase your love story is nice :)

I’m most comfortable with Miranda/Andy, but can throw an OC in there to shake things up a bit, Miranda/Andy must be the main couple though. What I want: Fic or a music video. Though I think a fic would be easier to do for this? I'd like it to be quite angsty, possible with a slightly drunken (though not alcoholic) Miranda. He could be sleeping with Miranda, though he has to be gay, so for some kind of twisted reason. I like my fics dark and my characters messed up, though no dub-con or non-con. Perhaps the pairing could be Miranda/one of her husbands and she's having a lesbian affair on the side. That kind of messed up, morally questionable content is what I like. What I want: Fanfic!

--What I'd really, really like is a story that is simultaneously Miranda/Nigel and Andy/Nigel. I'd love to see an exploration of the idea of queer het sex. As you all know, I'm into Andy/Miranda, and I'd be perfectly happy if the story included parts where they pine away for each other in all of their OTP glory, but the actual sex should be happening between Miranda and Nigel (and Andy and Nigel)! Nigel is queer, Miranda is queer, Andy is queer, and they love each other in various ways. By all means, make it as fucked-up and awkward as you'd like, but I'd *much* prefer all the sex to be consensual.

If that seems like a little much, I'd also be happy with either of the following:

--An Emily/Miranda story that isn't about jealousy (on Emily or Miranda's part) over one Andy Sachs. In other words, an Emily/Miranda story that is about *them*. What are they to each other, both professionally and personally?

--A story about Miranda's current relationship with her family. A lot of stories use a childhood full of abuse and violence to "explain" Miranda's personality, but I'd love to see a really creative, fresh exploration of both Miranda's past and her current relationships with parents, siblings, her own children, etc. Miranda isn't a sweet person, but being power-hungry and incredibly particular doesn't necessarily mean a terrible family "made her this way." I'm not wedded to any pairing for this story--Andy/Miranda would be fine, but I'd also be fine with a single Miranda, or a Miranda who's dating someone else.

What I can do: I can write fic, and that's about it. In the past, I've only written Andy/Miranda. I'd be very happy doing that again, but I'd also be fine branching out. I don't want to write anything explicitly sexual about Stephen being paired with *anyone* though. And I'm not interested in writing a story that features Serena.

I will write happy or sad stories. Some of the stories I've written in the past have gotten classified as fluff and as angst, depending on the reviewer, so...I'm willing to experiment.

What I absolutely won't do: I won't write a Meryl Streep character paired with another Meryl Streep character. I won't write RPF. I'd prefer not to write any m/m pairings, and I'd prefer to write m/f pairings only in a secondary role to a f/f pairing (though I'm fine with writing both het and [fem]slash pairings in terms of general subject matter, I'm better at writing explicit f/f sex). What I want: Art based on any of my fics is always awesome, but a fic would be nice, too. Whatever else happens, I always prefer for Miranda to stay in character and not turn into an absolute cream-puff when it comes to romance.

Miranda/Andy is great, but I would like to see some Lily, Nate, or Nigel in there if it goes down that road. Pairings apart from Miranda/Andy are also fun, but I’m not all that crazy about Emily, so if Miranda or Andy hook up with other people, just please not Emily. Also, Christmas is my absolute favorite holiday, so seasonal would be awesome, too.

And if none of this strikes your fancy, I’m flexible (other than the Emily thing, but that’s more because I’m tired of her).

What I can do: Fic only. I’m kind of off-beat, so really letter-specific prompts generally don’t work out that well, but apart from that, I’m pretty easy.

What I absolutely won't do: I don’t do graphic sex scenes, so anything of that ilk is right out (including threesomes). I don’t do RPF either, and crossovers only work if I’m actually familiar with the other work. It's not that I don't do crossovers at all, but it makes a difference what the crossover is.

What I want:
A fanfic where Miranda and Cruella De Vil is fighting over Andrea. It is set after Paris and Andrea does not get her job at the Mirror but rather at House of Devil.
Cruella realizes how valuable Andrea is in more ways than one and starts showing weird affection or favor to her. She will for example pull Andrea’s arm close to show her how soft her fur coat is. This must not be done distastefully but seductively. It must make Andrea flustered. Andrea starts realizing she misses Miranda. Miranda starts noticing that she has hidden feelings for Andrea when she sees a certain spread in her magazine. Miranda find out that Andrea is working at House of De Vil at London fashion week’s Benefit when Andrea shows up as Cruella’s assistant. The tension starts when the 2 older women realize they share the same goal when one of them gives it away. All is fair in the battle for Andrea. Who will win…that’s up to you.
It must be long-ish and no PWP. It should have angst, URST and rated NC-17.

What I want: A Miranda/Andy fanfic set after Paris. I think it would be neat if there was some sort of friendship between Andy and the twins that occurred after the Book/Harry Potter incident. Not picky on how or what. The twins kept in contact with Andy through E-mail and/or text messages until she left Miranda in Paris. Whether or not she keeps in contact with the twins after Paris is up to the author, but something brings them her back into contact with the Priestly family at Christmas where neither Andy nor Miranda can avoid their issues with each other.
